Update: I mocked that viral "boarding group 1" airport hack last month, then Delta actually let me try it in Atlanta
I saw this comment thread where a gate agent said you can just ask nicely for an earlier boarding group if your connection is tight, and I laughed at it. Figured it was fake. But two weeks ago my flight into Atlanta got delayed 40 minutes and I had 12 minutes to make my next gate, so I tried it. The agent looked at my ticket, typed for 8 seconds, and said "go now, you're in group 2." I made the flight. Anyone else actually pull this off, or did I just get lucky with a nice agent at gate B14?

Happened to me too in Chicago, agent just waved me through to group 3.
