Hot take: I stopped trusting the dive board temps on the rig and started logging my own at 15 ft
For 3 seasons I just went off what the deck readout showed before a job in Galveston, then last month a tender pointed out it was reading 4 degrees warmer than what I felt at depth on a 60 ft inspection. Turns out the sensor sits near the engine room exhaust and nobody had checked it in who knows how long, so a few of us started dropping a cheap $40 temp probe on a line before every wet weld. Any of you guys doing your own checks or am I overthinking a reading that's been fine for everyone else?
