Lost 4 years of client data because I skipped a firmware update
Last month my old Synology NAS started acting flaky in my shop in Bakersfield. I ignored the popup about a new DSM version for three weeks because I was slammed with house calls. Then one morning the drive array went wonky and I couldn't mount it, turned out the firmware had a known bug with that exact model. Lesson cost me a stack of client backups and two full days rebuilding the thing from scratch. Anyone else have a similar story where skipping an update bit them way harder than the downtime would've been?
