Old broom handle trick saved my curb job

Got a weird one for you guys. Last Tuesday I was finishing a walkway in Phoenix and my magnesium float snapped right in the middle of the pour. I had nothing else on the truck, so I grabbed a busted broom handle I use to prop open the mixer chute and taped the float head to it with duct tape. It worked like a charm, even got the job done before the sun cooked it. Anyone else ever rig up a tool with junk when you're in a pinch?
