Hit 50,000 words on my novel draft and actually cried a little
I've been working on this fantasy story for about a year now, mostly on weekends. Last Tuesday I passed 50,000 words and I didn't even notice until I checked my word count. It felt huge because I've started and stopped maybe six other projects before this one. This is the first time I've made it past the 20,000 word mark without giving up. I still have a long way to go but hitting that number made it feel real. Has anyone else hit a random word count or page milestone that caught them off guard?

That 50k mark is a big deal, especially after struggling to get past 20k before. It's wild how a random number can suddenly make all those late nights feel worth it. Congrats on pushing through, that's a real accomplishment and you should be proud of yourself.

That "wild how a random number can suddenly make all those late nights feel worth it" line hit me hard. I've been there before where I'm grinding away and it feels pointless until I cross some arbitrary milestone and suddenly I'm a genius. Then I look back at my code from those late nights and realize I wrote a bunch of spaghetti that barely works, so the number is really just compensating for my bad decisions. But hey, at least the number looks good on a resume, right? Congrats again on hitting it, that's legit.
