That time a writing prompt about a forgotten room unlocked a memory I had buried for years

I was scrolling prompts last Tuesday and saw one that said 'write about a door you never opened.' Something about it hit me hard. I remembered this closet in my grandma's house in Portland that I always walked past as a kid. One day I finally opened it and found a box of letters my dad wrote to her before I was born. He passed when I was 2 so I never knew him like that. The prompt got me to actually write about finding those letters and it came out way better than anything I'd planned. Has anyone else had a random prompt dig up something real like that?

@jana119 same thing happened to me with a prompt about digging up a time capsule, and all I found was a note I wrote to myself saying "don't forget to be cool" which definitely didn't work.

Man I felt that. I stumbled on a prompt about "the last thing someone said to you" and it dug up this memory of my neighbor Mrs. Chen telling me to check my tire pressure before a road trip. She died like a month later and I never thanked her. Wrote a whole thing about how that small moment stuck with me. Sometimes the junk prompts hit different when you least expect it.
