Found a cheap fix for crooked walls in old houses

I'm building a 1920s house in Nashville right now and the walls were way off square. Tried shimming everything and it took forever with no luck. Then my drywall guy said to snap chalk lines and rip the studs down with a circular saw jig instead of leveling the whole damn frame. Saved me about 8 hours of work on one wall alone. Has anyone else tried this approach for dealing with out-of-plumb framing in old homes?

Ha! I feel this in my soul after trying to square up a wall in my own place and ending up with a door that swings itself shut like a haunted house. That chalk line trick is genius though, I wish my guy had thought of it before I wasted a weekend fighting with shims. Honestly, at this point I just tell people the crooked walls add character, or I'm hiding a secret room, whichever sounds cooler.
