Hit 200 blocked phishing campaigns in 90 days, is that a win or a red flag?

Our small team logged the 200th blocked phishing email on Friday, which sounds great on paper, but I'm wondering if that number means our filters are doing their job or if we're just a bigger target than we thought, so what's your take on celebrating those metrics versus digging into why we're seeing so many in the first place?

Have you looked at where these 200 are actually coming from, like are they all hitting the same few mailboxes or are they spread out across the whole team? I had a similar thing happen a while back, and it turned out we were on some public mailing list that spammers scraped, so the volume spiked hard for like a month before it leveled off. The number itself is less important than the trend, if it's steady or going down week to week, that's your real win. I'd say do a quick breakdown of the senders and subject lines, you might find it's one big campaign hitting everyone at once, which is different than 200 separate attempts. Either way, blocking them is good, but figuring out why they found you is way more useful than just celebrating the kill count...

Same pattern with junk mail at my house. We get a stack of coupons and credit card offers every single day, all from the same three or four companies. It's not random, it's one system that keeps firing off at everyone in the zip code. Once you see that, the 200 emails make total sense. It's rarely a bunch of different bad guys, it's usually one loud noise that got your address from somewhere.
