The IT guy's 'secure' password file was a plain Word document.

He saved all the admin passwords in a file named 'safe stuff.doc'. We had to explain why that's not safe at all.

Hold on, using Notepad for passwords? That's like writing your bank PIN on a sticky note for everyone to see. You're just asking for trouble if that file gets lost or hacked.

I convinced ours to at least use Notepad.
