Oil splatter got my ceiling fan, now the kitchen smells like fried dust
Last Tuesday I tried making funnel cake in a small pot. Big mistake. I filled it too high and the batter hit the oil like a bomb. Splatter flew everywhere, including my ceiling fan blades. Now every time I turn the fan on, it throws this greasy dust smell around the whole apartment. I tried wiping the blades with degreaser but the motor still reeks. My roommate walked in and said, "Did you fry a gym sock?" I have to take the whole fan apart this weekend. Anyone else deal with oil getting into a fan or vent? How do you even clean that without making a worse mess?
