Switched sides on director's cuts after watching the Kingdom of Heaven alternate version

Always thought deleted scenes were just stuff that got cut for a reason, nothing special. But last month I watched the Kingdom of Heaven director's cut with all 45 minutes put back in. The whole story flows different, characters actually have reasons for what they do. Has anyone else been converted by a specific alternate cut?

Oh man, I dragged a buddy through the same thing with the Kingdom of Heaven director's cut. I practically forced him to sit through it under threat of never letting him borrow my blu-rays again. By the time the final battle rolled around and the movie actually had emotional weight instead of just looking pretty, he turned to me and said "okay so when do we watch the other 44 minutes I missed the first time?" It was like watching a man realize he'd been eating fast food burgers his whole life when there was a perfectly good steak waiting for him.

My buddy Dave swore by the theatrical cut of The Abyss for years, said the director's cut was just too long winded. Then one night we were hanging out and I put on the version with the giant wave and the aliens actually talking. He got dead silent during the whole end sequence where they show the underwater city growing. After it was over he just sat there for a minute and said "okay I get it now." He actually apologized to me the next day for being wrong about it for so long. Have you shown any of your friends the Kingdom of Heaven one to see if it changes their mind too?
