Chicago has hundreds of art galleries and thousands of artists. Letting one owner's offhand comment control your work for months seems like a choice. People say weird stuff about creative work all the time. You have to decide what feedback is useful and what's just noise. Getting hung up on a single opinion can paralyze you from making anything new.

That's just one person's opinion. I had a client tell me my roof estimate was "too thorough" once, which is a stupid thing to complain about. Some feedback you just gotta ignore and move on.
