Hot take: coworking spaces are overrated for actual work
I spent 3 months in Chiang Mai jumping between the popular spots and honestly, my output tanked. Everyone talks about the networking and the energy, but I got more done in one quiet week at a boring cafe with noise-canceling headphones than I did in any of those trendy hubs. The desks are cramped, the WiFi drops at 2pm every day because everyone's streaming, and I kept getting dragged into conversations about crypto or travel vlogs when I had deadlines. Last month I rented a tiny apartment with a decent router for $150 and suddenly my client work felt manageable again. Sure, you lose the social scene, but I moved abroad to write code, not to hear someone's 45 minute story about their van life. Is anyone else quietly ditching coworking memberships, or am I the only introvert hiding in a condo?
