Mentor laughed at my CAD layering habit, then I saw his 14 layer mess
For two years I kept every single element on its own layer, colors coded, names locked in. Old timer at the shop in Toledo kept joking I was wasting time, said nobody cares once it prints. Then we shared a file last month and his drawing had 14 random layers with half the geometry thrown on layer 0. Took me 45 minutes just to isolate the foundation plan for a revision. I'm not saying my system is perfect, but has anyone else dealt with a senior drafter who treats layers like a suggestion?
