Showerthought: I used to draw every bolt by hand for a week, now I use a block in about 5 seconds
About two years ago, I was working on a set of shop drawings for a steel frame and spent maybe 20 hours just drawing standard bolt connections from scratch. My boss saw me and just said, 'You know we have a block library for that, right?' I felt pretty dumb. Now I have a whole folder of standard details I drop in, which saves so much time. Has anyone else built a good library of common details they're willing to share?

Oh man, that feeling is the worst! I once spent a whole afternoon drawing a standard door schedule from scratch, labeling every hinge and kickplate. My coworker walked by, laughed, and just emailed me their template file. I wanted to melt into my chair. Now my block library is my most prized possession, right next to my coffee mug.

A whole afternoon on a door schedule, that is some serious pain.

Totally get that! My old boss had us save every weird custom detail we ever made. Now we've got blocks for stuff like pallet rack anchors and dock leveler pads. Saves so much headache on repeat jobs.
