Went to that viral inflatable crab restaurant in Tampa, left with questions
Last Saturday I drove 3 hours to check out that place everyone keeps posting, you know the one with the giant inflatable crab on the roof. The line took 2 hours and honestly the crab legs were fine but not worth the hype, $78 for a platter that felt medium at best. What got me was the guy next to us filming his whole meal for TikTok and yelling at the waiter to redo the presentation because the lighting was bad. Has anyone else gone somewhere just because it blew up online and felt like you were part of a weird social experiment instead of just eating?
The "weird social experiment" part is exactly right. Two hours in line for medium crab legs is a bad trade, so next time set a rule for yourself: if the wait is over 45 minutes and the place is only famous for being famous, walk. Pull up the menu online before you drive anywhere and check if the prices match what you'd pay at a normal spot near home. And if you do end up somewhere like that again, sit at the bar if you can, the service is faster and you skip most of the phone crowd. The guy making the waiter redo the plate for lighting was never going to be your problem to fix, just eat your food and go.
