Warning: My bathroom drywall job went south from skipping the plastic sheet...
I was redoing my small bathroom and decided to leave out the vapor barrier to save time... After a couple of months, I kept seeing dark, damp spots near the shower wall... When I pulled a section off, the back was all soggy and had black mold starting... Now I always use that plastic, even in rooms that don't seem too wet...

It's funny how often we try to save a little time now, only to waste a lot more fixing it later. Makes you wonder if shortcuts are ever worth it, right?

That line about saving time now to waste it later hits home. I once tried to quick-fix a dripping tap with some plumber's tape and a prayer. Ended up flooding the cabinet underneath because I didn't want to take the time to shut the water off properly. Spent the whole next Saturday replacing soggy plywood. So no, shortcuts and I are not on speaking terms anymore.
