Hit 22 mpg on my 5.0 after swapping the stock air filter

I always thought those cold air intake claims were mostly hype for sound, but I put a K&N drop-in filter in my 2018 last Tuesday. My highway trip to Denver showed 22 mpg on the dash, which is 3 more than my usual. Has anyone else seen a real jump just from a simple filter change?

Swapping a filter can help if your old one was really clogged up, but that's about it. Most of the time the computer just adjusts for the extra air and you're back to normal in a week. The real gain is hearing the engine breathe better, not saving money on gas.

So you're saying the whole thing is basically just for the sound?
