My tuner argued a 93 octane tune on my 3.5 EcoBoost was pointless, but after a month of logging data, the difference in timing and power over the 91 octane file is actually huge.
I was ready to call it a waste until I saw the logs show a consistent 4 degrees more timing advance and a 22 horsepower bump on the dyno, so what's your take on paying extra for premium fuel tunes versus sticking with the cheaper gas map?

22 horsepower bump" is not what I'd call pointless.

Depends on the car, @averywilliams. On a 300hp engine, that's basically a rounding error you'd never feel. It's only a big deal if you're racing for tenths of a second.

That "rounding error" talk reminds me of my buddy who said the same thing until he actually drove a car with the 93 tune. He shut up real quick after feeling the pull from a stop.
