PSA: I just wasted $200 on a hoof stand that broke under a big Percheron last week.
It was a cheap cast aluminum one I bought online, and now I'm back to using my old reliable steel stand, so has anyone found a good heavy-duty model that can actually take the weight?

I feel you on the cheap cast aluminum, my old one gave up on a draft cross and I almost fell over. What brands are you looking at now?

Ugh that's terrifying, glad you're okay! That sudden give-way is the worst feeling. Honestly been looking at some forged steel options after that scare, they just seem way more solid. The price jump hurts but so does eating dirt. Been hearing good things about a couple brands that make them for heavier horses.
