DAE think corner bracing is overkill until you see a fence collapse?

I used to skip corner braces to save time, lmao. After that storm, half the fences on my street are leaning bad. What's your go-to method for bracing in windy spots?

People forget to check their soil before they brace. Sandy or loose dirt will pull out a post no matter how good your hardware is. I dig deeper and pack gravel at the bottom for a solid base.

What about clay soil, does gravel help there too, @juliamorgan?

Oh gravel in clay is a total disaster waiting to happen. That heavy soil just holds water like a sponge and the gravel ends up creating a hidden bathtub around your post. You'll have a perfectly set post in a soupy clay slurry. Seen so many fences lean because someone thought gravel would fix the squish.
