Poems that smell like garlic and onions are taking over my feed
I've noticed a bunch of poets writing about cooking lately. It's all about simple things, like frying an egg or slicing bread. For example, I saw a piece that just listed spices in a cabinet. Another one was all about the sound of a knife on a cutting board. It feels like people are finding poetry in meal prep now. I think it's cool how normal stuff can become art. Makes me want to write about my own kitchen fails.

It's interesting, but those cooking poems never really grab me... they just list things that happened. Seems like a lot of poets are just describing a moment instead of putting any real heart into it. You get the picture of the kitchen, but you don't feel anything about the person in it. Older poems about normal life had a warmth or a sense of struggle underneath. This new stuff just feels like watching someone cook through a window... quiet and a bit empty.

Check out the toast poem for some real warmth.

Yeah the garlic and onions thing is so real. I mean, I read one about burning toast last week and it kinda hit different. Maybe it's just me but my kitchen fails would make a pretty funny poem too.
