Figuring out where that distorted guitar riff came from cracked me up
It was sampled from a public domain training video for office safety.

Imagine digging through some dusty corporate film about not stapling your fingers and suddenly hearing the raw seed of a killer riff. It really shows how musicians can find gold in the weirdest, most boring places. That disconnect between the original yawn-inducing context and the final head-banging result is pure comedy. It makes me wonder what other totally normal sounds from everyday life are hiding in my favorite songs.

Notice how the best ideas often come from tuning into the boring stuff around you. I once read about a writer who got a whole book plot from overhearing two strangers argue in a laundromat. It's like your brain takes the normal background noise and flips it into something new when you're not trying too hard.

Oh, that's so true! I recall a story where a musician got the idea for a bass line from the hum of an old refrigerator. He was stuck on a song until he heard that constant, low drone in his kitchen. It just clicked, and he used it as the foundation for the whole track. Everyday sounds are hiding everywhere.
