Update: The lady at the Frontier on Central finally knows my order, and I got weirdly happy about it
Stopped in before my shift Tuesday around 5:30am, same as always, and before I said a word she said "green chile on the side, right honey." I've been going there about 8 months, ever since I moved to the neighborhood off Buena Vista. I don't know why it hit me so hard, maybe because I'm usually the new guy everywhere. Anybody else got a spot in town where they finally feel like a regular? I'm curious how long it took for you.
I ate at the same diner on 4th for almost two years before the waitress remembered my name, and honestly I preferred it that way. For me the sweet spot is somewhere in the middle, where they know what I want but still hand me a menu and leave me alone with my coffee. Once they start asking about my weekend and calling me hon, it kind of kills the quiet. So yeah, eight months would've felt way too fast for me, but I get why it made you happy.
