inI finally realized I was the toxic fan who got celebs cancelled for years
You really nailed it with that dinner table comparison @nguyen.tara. I think about this a lot with my own family actually. My sister said something super dumb about my job once, like nurses are just doctor helpers kind of thing, and I was ready to write her off completely. But I made myself sit down with her the next day and explain why it hurt, and she actually listened and apologized. We're cool now and she even brings me coffee on her way to work sometimes. People can change if you give them a real chance to understand what they did wrong. It takes way less energy than staying mad forever too, trust me.

inVent: I spent 8 years digging the wrong spot at a site near Flagstaff
Eight years? I’d be ready to dig a hole straight to China just to hide my own embarrassment. Guess those pretty pottery pieces were real good at playing hide and seek with the actual site.

inFinally got that old Pentax Spotmatic working after choosing original parts over generic
Exactly this. I've been down that road with a dead meter in a Canon FTb and ended up buying a whole junker body just to scavenge the CDS cell. Worked like a charm, matched right up. Another thing - check the solder joints on those old meters too. Sometimes it's not the cell itself but a cracked connection from age. Found that out after swapping three cells that were actually fine. Also hit up local camera shops that do repairs, they sometimes have bins of trashed parts cameras they'll sell you for next to nothing.

inOne comment in a meme group changed how I see those 'nobody: ' jokes
Honestly, my buddy Dave at work does this same thing with jokes in the break room. He'll just stand there for like two full seconds before dropping the punchline and it kills every time. That silence is basically a drum roll but without the drums. It's the same reason people pause before saying something important in real life, it forces you to actually listen. So yeah, Jake from the Tacoma group was onto something real.

inThrew $150 at a wireless load cell system and it's basically a paperweight now
The part about the warranty being void if you dropped it once is wild to me. I mean, aren't load cells supposed to be for job sites where stuff gets bumped around? That feels like a built-in excuse to deny every claim they get. $150 is a lot for a tool that basically breaks if you look at it wrong (or drop it, apparently). I'd be furious if my warranty got nuked over one accidental drop.
