Just realized I was setting my Facebook ad budgets totally backward for 2 years

I kept seeing my cost per result climb every week and couldn't figure out why. Then last Tuesday I noticed my daily budget was hitting the cap within 2 hours of midnight every single day for months. A guy on here pointed out that I was basically competing against myself by not spacing out my ad schedule. Has anyone else had that moment where you find a simple fix that makes you feel like an idiot for not noticing sooner?

My buddy had the same thing with Google ads, took him a year to figure it out...

Wait, a YEAR? I mean, how does someone just let Google ads run wrong for a whole year without catching it sooner. Like, was his cash just burning up every month and he didn't check the numbers? Idk, maybe it's just me but I'd be looking at my ad spend every week or two. Thats wild.

The trick is to set up a simple spreadsheet that tracks your cost per result by hour of day for the first week of any new campaign. That way you can see exactly when your audience is actually converting versus when they're just clicking. Most people set their ads to run all day but their customers only buy between 2-6pm on weekdays. Schedule your ads for those peak windows and watch your CPA drop like a rock.
