Spent $180 on a 'premium' ad spy tool, turns out the free Reddit threads had the same data
Been running small FB ads for a local cleaning service here in Toledo. Six weeks ago I caved and paid $180 a month for one of those ad spy platforms everyone keeps hyping in the Discord. Thought I'd finally see the secret winning creatives. Nope. After 3 weeks I cross-referenced the top 20 'hidden gems' it showed me with what people were already posting in a couple of free Facebook groups and a Reddit thread for local advertisers. Literally the same screenshots, sometimes even the same timestamps. Canceled the subscription yesterday. The only thing it saved me was time I could've spent scrolling those groups anyway. Anyone else feel like these tools just resell what's already public, or did I pick the wrong one?

Same timestamps? That is wild. You literally paid $180 a month to see the exact same screenshots people posted for free. I wouldve been so annoyed if I found that out after three weeks too.
Its crazy how many of these tools just scrape public posts and slap a fancy dashboard on top. The only real difference is they sort it nicely, but you still have to dig through the same junk to find anything useful. Honestly, I bet most of those Discord hype guys are just affiliates getting a cut.
Your story is exactly why I never pay for that stuff now. The free groups and threads are usually faster anyway since real people drop stuff without waiting for the tool to update. Save the $180 and buy yourself a nice dinner instead.
