Took me 6 days to figure out why my ad set was overspending

Honestly I thought I had this account dialed in. Running a retargeting campaign for a local HVAC client in Phoenix and everything looked fine on day one. But by day three I noticed the budget was burning through twice as fast as normal. I checked the audience overlap, the frequency caps, even re-did the pixel events. Nothing made sense. Finally on day six I realized the client had accidentally duplicated an old ad set and left both running at full budget with no bid cap. It was just sitting there in the draft folder of the campaign. I never bothered to look there because I assumed it was clean. Has anyone else had a hidden ad set ruin their pacing for no good reason?

Don't you think the real issue here is not checking the campaign structure before launch? I feel like that's a basic step that saves a ton of headaches later. You caught it eventually though, which is what matters most.

Nancy, you nailed it right there. The campaign structure is what holds everything together and skipping that step is asking for trouble later on. I've seen so many folks rush through setup just to get things live, and then they spend twice as long fixing it. Catching it early like you did is the best way to keep the whole thing on track. Good on you for spotting it and speaking up.
