I'm tired of people calling interest-only loans a scam when they just don't understand the cash flow math behind them

Those Reddit threads are wild, I once saw someone argue you should never pay off debt because it hurts your credit utilization ratio.

Old timer at my last shop swore manual offsets were pointless on newer machines

That "tiny chip on the stylus" story hits home because I've seen the exact same thing with a different tool. It reminds me of how people trust GPS blindly until it sends them down a dead end road. I've noticed this pattern everywhere @eric723, where we start trusting automation too much and forget the basic checks. The probe is great for speed, but nothing replaces that moment of putting an indicator on the first part and seeing it wiggle that half a thou.

Still thinking about that ranger who laughed at my tent setup in Yosemite

Think about how many times you struggle with something for hours and then some random person walks up and gives you a tiny piece of advice that makes everything click. It's like that old saying about how the simplest solutions are usually the best ones. I've seen it happen at work with people who overcomplicate spreadsheets until someone shows them a shortcut, or even just cooking where a friend watches you chop an onion wrong and fixes your grip in two seconds. Those small moments of humble wisdom are everywhere if you're paying attention. But the trick is you have to be willing to listen even when it sounds backwards, like rainfly first.

That time a fast food chain's apology made things way worse

Haha oh man that CEO staring thing is gold. I once tried to apologize to my buddy for showing up late to his birthday party and I just stood there awkwardly for like 30 seconds before blurting out "the dog ate my car keys." It was a total disaster. I think the worst apology I've seen was when a donut chain tried to explain a price hike by saying they were "enhancing the customer experience" which just meant smaller donuts. People got so mad they started boycotting for like a whole month. Those corporate apology videos are always a trainwreck, they never just say "we messed up, here's free food.

Swapped from spray foam to rock wool for my last build

Totally agree, rock wool is way easier to work with than that spray foam nightmare.
