I bet my cousin $20 that a janky 2004 local car lot ad would still get clicks today, and I lost
Back in 2009 I worked weekends at a radio station in El Paso and the owner ran this awful ad for a used car lot, just him yelling 'COME ON DOWN' over a jingle that sounded like a dying ice cream truck. It was so bad we all laughed at it, and I swore ads like that were dead once social media took over. Last month my cousin texted me that same 30 second spot, still airing on a tiny AM station, and bet me $20 no one under 40 would even react to it. I sat in my car and watched 6 people in the parking lot at the lot itself, and 2 of them said they came because of the yelling guy. I paid up that same night. It bugs me that cheesiness still works when everything now is so polished and quiet. Does anyone else have an old local ad that somehow outlived the fancy ones?
