My nephew showed me a candy ad from 3 years ago and I still can't tell if it's a joke
Last week my nephew pulled up this ad on his phone in my kitchen in Dayton and made me guess if it was real. It was for a gummy candy company and the whole thing was just a guy staring at the camera for 40 seconds while a voice said the word "chewy" over and over. Three years ago this would have been a weird YouTube video nobody watched, but now it's got like 2 million views and the comments are full of people buying the candy. Are the weird ones actually working better now, or are we all just watching them for free?
Oh man, saw a pickle one last month where the whole ad was just a jar getting slapped for 30 seconds. Made me want to buy pickles and I don't even like pickles that much. Feels like they figured out that being confusing is cheaper than being clever.
