I used to call every local ad 'lazy' until my own sign at the laundromat in Reno cost me $200 and zero calls
Back in 2019 I saw a plumber's ad in a free weekly paper in Reno that was just his face, a phone number, and the words 'I fix leaks' and I laughed at how dumb it looked. Then I paid $200 to put my own cleaning ad on a laundromat corkboard with a fancy logo and a list of 12 services, and I got exactly zero calls in 3 weeks. Turns out the plain plumber had it right, people scanning a board want one clear thing, not a menu. Has anyone else caught themselves mocking an ad style and then totally flopping when they tried their own?
