That "one weird trick" mattress ad has a 47 second countdown timer and I watched the whole thing twice
I got stuck watching a mattress ad last week that had this huge red countdown clock in the corner screaming that the deal ends in 47 seconds. I timed it with my phone and the clock just restarted three times, so the "deal" never actually ended. What got me was reading that urgency tactics like this can boost click through rates by something like 300 percent even when people know it's fake. It works because our brains freak out about losing a deal way more than they get excited about saving money. Has anyone else noticed these fake timers popping up everywhere now, or is it just the ads I keep getting?
