TIL my old magnetic tray was costing me more time than I thought

Last month, I was putting together a new workbench in my garage in Springfield. I kept dropping small bolts and washers on the floor, spending maybe 10 minutes each time just crawling around to find them. My old magnetic tray was weak and stuff would slide off if I bumped it. I finally bought a deeper, stronger one for about $25. It seems simple, but not having to stop and search for parts changed my whole flow. Has anyone else found a basic tool upgrade that saved a ton of hassle?

My cousin's kid called my password 'grandpa level' and honestly, he had a point

At a family thing in Boise last month, my 14-year-old nephew saw me log into my email and just said 'Uncle Mia, that password is grandpa level, you just added a 1 at the end of your old one.' I was using 'Spring2023!1' and thought it was fine. I changed all my main stuff to use three random words with some numbers now, like 'cactus-truck-42-battery'. Has anyone else had a kid totally roast their security habits?

PSA: I had to pick between a magnesium and a magnesium-aluminum float for a 1,200 sq ft garage floor last month.

Went with the magnesium-aluminum one for the weight, and man, did it ever cut down on my arm fatigue by the end of the day. Anyone else have a strong preference for one type over the other on big pours?

Serious question, why do so many bakeries in Portland charge $8 for a plain croissant?

I went to a new spot on 12th Avenue yesterday morning, and the case was full of fancy pastries. I asked for a basic butter croissant, and the guy said it was eight dollars. I watched him take it from a rack that clearly came from a big frozen supplier box in the back. For that price, I expect it to be made from scratch in-house, not just baked off. What's a fair price for a real, simple croissant where you are?

For years, my book club in Austin had a hard rule: finish the book before the meeting, no exceptions. We'd even do pop quizzes, which sounds silly now.
