Unpopular opinion: that 2am lawyer with the screaming yellow billboard actually got my brother $14k, but I still think the ads are trash
My brother got rear ended on I-35 outside Waco three winters back and this lawyer's face was on every bench at the bus stop, giant yellow board, phone number big enough to read from the next block. I told him no way, that kind of ad usually means they're chasing volume and you're just a case number, and I felt pretty smug about it. Turns out the guy's office called him back in 40 minutes, handled the insurance calls, and my brother walked with $14k after the cut. So I was dead wrong on that one and I admitted it. But here's where I'm stuck. My neighbor signed with a different billboard guy for a fender bender and got maybe $900 and nine months of silence, so the ads didn't tell us anything either way. I still think those boards look cheap and I'd never pick a doctor or a roofer off one, yet for injury stuff it worked. Was I just lucky through my brother, or do the loud ambulance chasers mostly deliver and the quiet fancy firms are the ones who sit on your file?
