My kid bet me $20 I couldn't sit through a whole commercial break without looking at my phone, and the ads won
My 11 year old bet me $20 I couldn't watch a full commercial break on live TV without picking up my phone, and I lost on the third ad. It was a local spot for a car dealer in Reno where a guy in a cowboy hat yelled the word "savings" 14 times in 30 seconds. Here's the weird part, I remembered that dealer's name the next day but couldn't tell you a single thing about the two movie trailers that played after it. So the annoying ad stuck and the big budget ones vanished, which feels backwards from everything I assumed about why ads fail. Maybe the yelling cowboy worked because my brain flagged it as a problem to solve instead of something to skip. Has anyone else noticed the cheap local ads burrowing into their head while the polished national ones slide right off?
