Vent: that crying Santa ad from last month isn't sad, it's lazy and I'm tired of pretending otherwise
Everyone at my office in Boise keeps sharing that 90 second holiday ad where the dad cries in his truck and calls it a masterpiece, but I think it's cheap. It hit 40 million views in two weeks and the whole thing is just sad piano, one slow zoom, and zero actual joke or idea. Any ad can make you feel something if you crank the music loud enough, that's not the same as being clever. Am I the only one who thinks a sad ad is just a bad ad wearing a nice coat?
