Idk when we stopped verifying sources before sharing but it bums me out

Back in the early 2000s on forums I'd spend 10 minutes cross-checking a photo against Snopes before posting it, but now my aunt forwards me a video of a talking dog with 2 million views and she just hits send without blinking. Has anyone else noticed their older relatives just don't care if something's real anymore?

The great 'tags the wrong account' blunder that keeps happening

I swear it was funnier when celebs first started doing this, but now I see it like once a week. Saw someone famous tag a fan account with like 2 followers instead of their actual friend, and nobody even noticed for 3 hours. Makes me wonder if they even look at the screen before they hit post, or if it's just all auto pilot now. Anybody else keep a running list of these tagging fails or is that just me?

Spent an hour at a coding meetup in Austin yesterday and noticed something weird

I went to this free coding workshop at a coffee shop downtown, and every single person there was using Python. Like not one person was working on JavaScript or HTML. Is it just me or is Python taking over everything for beginners now?

That Saturday when my clippers died mid-fade

I was 3 minutes into a skin fade on a regular at my chair in Brooklyn and the cord just gave out. Had to finish the whole thing with my backup trimmers and a straight razor, took twice as long. Anyone else ever have a tool fail at the worst possible moment?

Heard a guy at the hostel in Prague say booking flights 54 days out is the magic number, not 6 weeks like everyone claims

I checked his stat against my last 8 flights and my cheapest ticket was booked at 47 days, but my most expensive was at 52 days, so is that 54 day rule just luck or does someone have data to back it up?

My 15 seconds of fame came from a typo on a $3 estate sale sign

I put up a sign on a lamp post in my neighborhood for an estate sale. Misspelled 'estate' as 'escape' by accident. Someone took a photo, posted it to Reddit, and it got 40k upvotes in a day. Local news called. People showed up to the sale just to see the sign. The weird part is the sign was gone by noon but the meme version of it is still floating around. Anyone else have a random misspelling or dumb mistake blow up on them?

The week I moved to Logan Square was pure chaos - anyone else have a brutal first week?

Block 310 on my floor has this couple who argues about whose turn it is to take out recycling at exactly 2:15 AM every single night. People saying noise is just city texture never had to listen to someone's subwoofer bleed through two floors like its their personal bass testing facility. @gavin_kelly91 is right that the third week is when you really figure out who lives above you and what weird schedule they keep. A white noise machine cant help when the guy next door practices his didgeridoo at midnight on Tuesdays.
