Can we talk about how a 6 second clip of a soldier surprising his kid at a school in Ohio wrecked me more than any sad movie ever has?

I saw this clip in a waiting room in Columbus a few weeks ago. The kid drops his backpack and just sprints across the gym while the whole class screams, and I had to pretend my eyes were watering from the air conditioning. Here's my thing though, and I want honest answers. Is the surprise homecoming video real, or is it cheap because it's built to make you cry in 6 seconds with zero story? My wife says if a video has to try that hard, it doesn't count, and only earned crying counts. But I ugly cried at the end of Coco and that movie worked for every tear it got. So where's the line between a cheap shortcut and a real moment? Give me your take, but keep the clips coming because I need to know I'm not the only one who loses it at these.
