My mom said she fast forwarded through the last 10 minutes of Field of Dreams and I have not recovered
So my mom called me last Sunday and somehow we got on the topic of movies that get us. I said Field of Dreams gets me every time at the end with the catch, and she goes, oh I always skip that part, I watched it once in 1994 and that was plenty. I just sat there on the phone in my kitchen in Sacramento not saying anything for a second. Here is the thing, my dad showed me that movie when I was 12, right after his own dad passed, and he never talked about feelings but he sat through the whole thing with me without saying a word. I always figured that ending was a universal thing, like everyone feels that catch scene in their chest. Turns out my own mother has been fine with it for 30 years and never once mentioned it. Now I keep wondering what else I assume everyone feels the same about and I am wrong. What movie moment do you assume hits everyone and then found out someone close to you just does not care at all?
