Saw an old cereal box at a flea market in Dayton and it hit me how weird mascots used to be
Went to the big flea market off Route 35 in Dayton last Saturday with my uncle and dug through a box of old paper stuff, mostly maps and postcards. I pulled out a 1987 cereal box for 50 cents, and the mascot on it was a cartoon bee wearing sneakers and holding a spoon. I showed my uncle and we both just stared at it, because neither of us could name the cereal even though we both swore we ate it as kids. What bugs me is I can hum three jingles from that time but I could not tell you one ad mascot from the last five years. Is there a mascot from recent ads that actually sticks with people, or did that whole thing just stop working?
