Mine lasted 4 days before the screen went blank and I never figured out what killed it. I fed it, cleaned up after it, played the games, did everything the little instruction sheet said. Then one morning it just showed a tombstone and a ghost floating up. Newer ones are hit or miss too. My niece has one of the reboot ones and hers has been going for months, but she also barely touches it. Kind of makes me wonder if paying attention to them is what finishes them off.

That old guy probably saved you a leaky sheet. I was taught to watch for the tube wall to just kiss the hole, then maybe a quarter turn more and stop. Every size and gauge rolls different so there is no set number of turns. Feel and sound tell you more than a torque spec ever will. You did the right thing slowing down, fast spinning is how you gall the seat and thin the wall.
