Hot take: the Lite Brite was a bad toy and I still hear those little plastic pegs hitting the floor in my sleep
Everyone in this group gets misty eyed about Lite Brite and I do not get it. You got maybe 20 paper templates, you burned through them in a weekend, and then you were just poking pegs into a black sheet of paper hoping it looked like something. And the pegs. My mom stepped on one barefoot in the hall in 1991 and I got grounded for a week, which honestly feels like the toy's fault more than mine.
Same deal with the Easy Bake Oven. One bulb, tiny cake, done in 20 minutes, and you had to beg a parent to buy the mix refills. My sister got one for Christmas 1990 and by January it was a shelf decoration.
My third grade class had a board game day in May of 1993 and I brought my whole bin while some kid brought one deck of Uno and everyone played that instead. That was the week I finally admitted the big flashy toys never got a second play. Weirdly I still miss them though. Am I alone here or did anyone else's favorites get old after a week?
