I finally read the fine print on the hold harmless clause in my venue contract and laughed out loud at a Panera
I was killing time at the Panera on Westheimer in Houston before a client meeting when I pulled out a vendor agreement to review. Right there in section 9, the venue had slipped in a clause saying my agency would cover their legal fees if a guest tripped on their own crooked sidewalk. I have signed maybe 40 of these contracts over the past two years and never once caught one that bold. I took a picture and sent it to my paralegal, who replied with three laughing emojis and the words "they tried it." We sent back a redline cutting the whole section that same afternoon. Curious if other folks here actually read these line by line or just skim to the indemnity part like I used to.
