My client signed a listing agreement, then tried to back out 4 days later because her cousin "does real estate too"
I'm a real estate agent in Ohio and this happened about 2 months ago. Had a woman sign a 6 month exclusive right to sell on her house in a Columbus suburb. Standard stuff, 3% commission, we talked through the whole thing line by line. She initialed every page. Fast forward to day 4 and she calls me saying her cousin who has a license (but hasn't sold anything in like 3 years) wants to "handle it for family" and she wants out of the agreement. I said that's not how this works and she got mad and said she'd call a lawyer. Now I'm sitting here wondering if I should've just let her walk to avoid the headache. What would you all do here? Do I hold the line on the contract or is it worth it to just release her? Nobody warned me about the family cousin angle.
