Went with the flat fee lawyer on my agency contract instead of hourly, saved $2,300
When my small agency in Nashville was redoing our client contract last spring, I compared hiring a lawyer at $350 an hour versus one who quoted a flat $1,800 for the whole thing, and the flat fee guy actually read every clause and sent notes back in 4 days. The hourly lawyer billed me $4,100 for basically the same scope and kept emailing me one-line questions that ran up the clock. Has anyone else had better luck with flat fee counsel for agency contracts, or did I just get lucky with this one?
How did the flat fee guy handle it when you wanted changes after his notes came back, was that still covered or did he start tacking on extra? And did the hourly guy ever explain why one-line emails needed to be separate billable things?
