Tried mashing a blender with a bonsai tree... got something weird

I was messing around in Midjourney last night. Threw in 'blender shaped like a bonsai tree' just for laughs. The result looked like a half melted kitchen appliance growing leaves. Totally useless but I laughed for like 5 minutes straight. Found out later from some blog that AI struggles with mixing mechanical and organic shapes. Something about texture conflict in the training data. Has anyone else gotten a mashup that just looked broken but hilarious?

Isn't it wild how the AI just gives up on the blender part?

You're reading way too much into this. The AI absolutely nailed it. A bonsai is literally a tree that's been tortured into a tiny container for decades, so a "sad wilted stick blender" is exactly the right interpretation. That power cord root you're laughing at? That's genius level design. The AI understood that a blender shaped like a bonsai would be a useless piece of art, not a functional appliance. Your dollar store fern comment proves the point, bonsai leaves look fake and plastic in real life too. The only failure here is that you expected Midjourney to make something practical instead of something honest.

Right, so the AI basically looked at 'blender bonsai' and thought, "oh, you want a sad, wilted stick blender that's given up on life." The leaves were all sharp and plastic looking, like someone glued a fake fern from a dollar store onto a broken NutriBullet. It's not even a mashup, it's the AI throwing its hands up and saying "fine, here's your stupid tree blender, hope you choke on a smoothie." My favorite part was the little power cord that was somehow growing out of the "trunk" like a weird root. Just a complete disaster of a picture, but I'd hang it on my wall unironically.
