That silicone basket liner was a total bust for me

I spent about 15 bucks on one of those flexible silicone basket liners for my air fryer... thought it would make cleanup a breeze and keep my chicken from sticking. First time I tried it with some breaded fish fillets, the whole thing just floated up and got sucked into the heating element... what a disaster. Had to toss the fish and spent 20 minutes scraping melted plastic off the coils. My wife still jokes about the smell every time I use the air fryer now. I guess some things just work better with the bare basket and a quick spritz of oil. Anyone else try those liners and have them go totally wrong?

That's the thing with kitchen gadgets lately. Everything claims to be a game changer but half of it is just solving problems nobody had. Silicone liners, avocado slicers, fancy egg cookers. It's all just more stuff to clean and store. People get sold on convenience and end up creating more hassle. Your story just proves trusting a basic method is smarter than chasing shortcuts. Bare basket and oil spritz every time beats risking a melted liner.

wait wait wait so you used a silicone liner and it literally melted into your air fryer? lol i mean i get being upset about it but idk man maybe you just got a really cheap one or something. i've seen people swear by those things for months without any issues. also you said you had to scrape "melted plastic" off the coils but silicone doesn't melt like plastic does at air fryer temps so are we sure it was actually silicone and not some knockoff? just playing devil's advocate here but maybe the real problem is the brand you bought not the concept itself.
