Can we talk about the fuel leak I found at 2am in Billings
I was doing a quick turn on a King Air out of Billings, Montana and smelled Jet A near the left nacelle. Grabbed my flashlight and saw a steady drip coming off the fuel sump drain, about a drop every 3 seconds. Turned out the o-ring was chewed up and nobody had caught it on the last 50 hour check. I grounded the plane, called the owner at 2am, and he was not happy but it beat watching a wing catch fire on takeoff. How do you all handle pushback from owners when you find something that shuts them down overnight?
