Someone said my review of the Logitech webcam looked 'like a ghost story' because the light was behind me. I moved a cheap ring light in front and the difference is night and day, anyone have a good budget key light under $50?

That job in the old bank building last month made me rethink how I handle transitions

We were putting broadloom in a big open room that used to be the main lobby. The floor was this crazy mix of original marble and newer concrete patches. My usual move is to just slap down a thick pad and roll, but the height difference was over a full inch in some spots. I spent half a day trying to feather it out with leveling compound, getting nowhere and getting mad. The building manager, an older guy who'd been there forever, just said, 'Why fight it? Build a ramp.' It sounded too simple. But we cut some tapered plywood strips, secured them along the bad seams, and padded over it. The carpet laid flat as a pancake. I'd been so stuck on making the subfloor perfect that I missed the easier fix. Has anyone else used a method like that on a really uneven surface?

Trying to figure out what 'glazing' meant online took me a solid hour

Kept seeing people say they were 'glazing' someone in comments, and I was totally lost. I thought it was some new makeup thing at first. I went down a rabbit hole on different social apps trying to find the context. Finally found a video where a guy explained it means giving too much praise, like you're putting a glossy coat on them. It's basically a new way to call someone a suck-up. The whole time I was just scrolling and getting more confused. Has anyone else run into a term recently that made zero sense until you found the right explainer?

Just realized my buddy's 'post and ghost' method is why his engagement is so low

He told me he just drops a video and doesn't reply to a single comment for the first 2 hours, which basically tells the algorithm nobody's home, right?

Remember when a builder's word was the contract?

Back in 2010, my foundation pour got rained out and the crew just showed up the next Monday without a single change order. Last month, my current project manager emailed me a $1,200 fee for a two-hour weather delay. Has anyone else seen trust get replaced by paperwork like this?
